Annual Report
2020-2021
Program in Family Medicine at Weill Cornell
The Medical College established the “Program in Family Medicine” in 2000 in collaboration with the Department of Family Medicine at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. When Weill Cornell’s affiliation with Brooklyn Hospital ended on July 1, 2014, the Program continued with opportunities for students. The program grew and in 2018, the Program added a number of Family Medicine faculty at the Weill Cornell Medical Center and the family medicine student group grew. Under the direction of the Co-Directors, the student-led Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) continued the Weill Cornell Family Medicine Grand Rounds with the addition of career seminars and in the summer of 2019 the Family Medicine Elective Program for fourth year medical students was started.
Family Medicine Interest Group
The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) was actively involved with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) under the direction of the WCM Co-Director. Students received AAFP funding to attend various meetings and a fund initiative grant to support FMIG activities.
