Medical Onboarding for New Students

Welcome!

Congratulations on your acceptance to one of the degree programs at Weill Cornell Medicine. This page provides information about the medical onboarding process and steps to follow. If you have general questions about the requirements, you may direct them to shs@med.cornell.edu.

  1. Activate access credentials: If you haven’t already done so visit the myAccount website to activate your CWID and register for two-factor authentication. Once these are configured, make sure to download the campus VPN solution as you will need to be on the VPN to access the onboarding portal.
  2. Review Requirements: Review our campus health and immunization requirements and download health forms. Specific health and immunization requirements are posted on the Policies Page: Section on Health and Immunization Requirements.
Health forms will be distributed by each academic program to newly admitted students either by email or an onboarding portal.
  3. Complete forms: Students must complete all applicable self-report forms. Visit your health care provider for completion of a physical (if required) and immunization form and collect all relevant immunization records and test reports in preparation for electronic submission. In preparation for submitting forms to us electronically we advise you use a high quality document scanner and save files as PDFs.
  4. Visit the Health Requirements Portal: Visit the Weill Cornell Medicine Student Health Requirements Portal to enter your immunization dates in our compliance tracker.
You must access the portal from a campus computer or connect to the VPN in order to access this resource.
Navigate to https://medcornell.medicatconnect.com. If you are offered a drop-down list of schools, select “Weill Cornell Medicine” from the drop-down list.
You will then be directed to a page to enter your WCM Credentials to access the portal. Follow the instructions on the portal to enter the dates for each requirement listed for you.
  5. Upload your Documentation: On the Student Health Requirements Portal, there will be a link where you will be directed to a Microsoft site to submit your health forms and all supporting documentation. If prompted for a username and password, enter your full Weill Cornell Email address (cwid@med.cornell.edu) as the username and enter your WCM password as the password. Follow the instructions on the web form especially with regards to image type and quality.
  6. SHS Review: Student Health Staff will review the information you submitted in the requirements portal against the documentation you uploaded. This can take several days.
Student Health staff will use this time to register students in the campus medical record system (Epic) and invite eligible students to register for the patient portal using the email provided in your patient registration form. Health information will also be entered by staff into the campus enterprise medical record system.
  7. Get ready for classes: Students can log in to the Student Health Requirements portal to see the status of their compliance review. Students with deficiencies will be notified by email with additional instructions and deadlines. Failure to meet deadlines or resolve requirements may result in progressive administrative actions ranging from registration holds to disenrollment. Once classes start, the remainder of the communications with Student Health will be through the Patient Portal.

FAQ

How do I enroll or waive in the Student Health Insurance, Dental and/or Vision Care Plans?

Visit the Student Accounting website and reach out to them for any questions regarding insurance. Student Health Services does not administer the plans.

Does Student Health Services accept insurance?

Student Health is supported by Student Health Fees and does not bill or participate in any insurance plans. Student Health Services does collect insurance information to share with labs and pharmacies.

No. We are unable to provide services to eligible students until after they officially arrive and start their academic programs.

Students are advised to complete as many of these requirements as possible before their arrival to expedite compliance. Eligible students with any remaining deficiencies after classes start will have the opportunity to resolve missing requirements at Student Health Services.

Who is eligible to use Student Health Services (including the medical and mental health program)?

Students who pay the full Student Health Services Fee are eligible to use the medical and mental health programs. I am having problems with my Duo or connecting to the campus VPN. Who can I contact for help?

Please reach out to ITS for assistance with these resources.

I am able to log in to the requirements portal but I don’t see any information.

Please send an email to shs@med.cornell.edu with the subject line “empty portal”. Include your name, CWID, academic program and the date/time you tried accessing the portal and a member of the SHS team will investigate and advise within three business days.

I can access the patient portal but I can’t log in to the upload site to submit my documents.

Please make sure you are using your full WCM email address as your username when attempting to log in to the upload site.

I have other general questions about requirements and Student Health Services.

Send an email to shs@med.cornell.edu. Do not send documents or medical questions.
